First Church supports Christ's work by more than 50 organizations and missionaries in this city, the United States and around the world, and our members are involved through prayer, volunteer work, financial contributions and/or mission service. Each year in the spring, First Church hosts a weekend-long World Missions Festival that brings together missionaries who share what God is doing around the world.


  • African Enterprise is an interdenominational ministry of evangelism in the cities of Africa played an influential role in the peaceful transition of power in South Africa and continues to proclaim the Gospel throughout the continent today.
  • Bakossi Bible Translation Project of the Wycliffe Bible Translators in Cameroon, Africa.
  • Bethel Evangelical Secondary School located in Dembi Dollo, Ethiopia. First Church provides scholarship aid for students.
  • Casa de Fe, an orphanage for native children in Shell, Ecuador, that seeks to provide for the physical, medical and spiritual needs of young children—many with special needs—who have been orphaned or abandoned by their parents.
  • The Christian School, located in Cartagena, Colombia (Latin America Mission). First Church provides scholarship aid for students.
  • Egypt - assistance to developing churches through a denominational ministry offering free health care and preventive health education at clinics staffed by Christian doctors and nurses.
  • Haggai Institute conducts international training sessions to prepare leaders for evangelism in countries not typically thought of as being open to Christian ministry.
  • Ludhiana Christian Medical College offers medical training to men and women in India.
  • Narnia Center, located in Moscow, produces Russian language literature for Christian education and for training Christian leaders and teachers (PCUSA).
  • Natal Missionary Training Center, located in Brazil, trains pastors and leaders in rural Brazil (Outreach Foundation, PCUSA).
  • Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship is an evangelistic outreach to people without the Gospel.
  • World Vision is an international Christian relief and development agency.


  • Jews for Jesus maintains a strong commitment to serve the whole church as an outreach and as a voice to follow Jesus.
  • Mendenhall Ministries is a non-denominational, Christian organization that seeks to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the rural poor in southern Mississippi.
  • Scripture Union is a worldwide ministry active in more than 140 countries. Its vision: that children, young people and their families will know God’s love, follow Jesus and meet God daily in His Word.
  • The Medical Benevolence Foundation provides medical personnel, equipment, supplies and financial aid to hospitals, medical outposts and clinics outside the United States.


  • The Cellar, located in the cellar of First Presbyterian Church. Pittsburgh’s Downtown Campus Life (Youth For Christ) caters to students at three schools in the Downtown area.
  • East Liberty Family Health Care Center ministers holistically to elderly and lower income people in the East End.
  • Friendship Church is an interracial Presbyterian congregation serving the needs of men, women and families in West Oakland
  • Hosanna Industries provides a practical means for low income individuals to step out of poverty housing through charitable construction programs.
  • Ligonier Camp and Conference Center is First Presbyterian Church’s Christian retreat, conference center and summer camp that seeks to present Jesus Christ and build self-esteem in children and youth.
  • Light of Life Ministries ministers to the physical and spiritual needs of homeless and addicted men.
  • Pittsburgh Region International Student Ministries (PRISM) is an outreach ministry to international students and scholars, housed in Bellefield Presbyterian Church, Oakland. PRISM seeks to introduce unreached international students to our Lord.    
  • Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in support of the seminary’s World Mission Initiative.
  • Sojourner House provides women with space, dignity and safety while they recover from alcohol and other drug abuse.
