The upper and lower halves of this window depict a vision witnessed by the Apostle John who wrote,
"I saw the new Heaven and new Earth... I saw the Holy city of Jerusalem newly created, coming down out of heaven from God."
In the upper section of this window, an Ange, staff in hand, is about to ascend the mystical stairway to the distant city of beauty, the New Jerusalem.
"The city of God does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the flory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp."
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
The Charles Hays Window was a gift of Mrs. George W. Dilworth in memory of her parents, Charles Hays (1822-1902) and Isabella Steele McLaughlin Hays (1829-1898).
